DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of the Solutions Architect / Engineer are:
Set up test environment and run solution based tests (may include benchmark/performance testing) on Enterprise and/or Vertical applications with HDS storage systems. Work closely with engineering and technology partners to maximize results.
Create and document detailed test plans, Lab Validation Reports, Reference Architecture documents, Implementation Guides, Build Guides and other technical documents as well as videos that detail the configurations, test methodology results and Best Practices, along with the overall customer benefit of the solution and how we beat the competition.
Create and provide advanced-level technical training to System Engineers (& other technical audiences as appropriate) be the technical focal point for solution segment(s) that you are assigned.
Work with Engineering and partners (if appropriate) to properly set test (and performance) goals. After agreement, develop, review and execute test plan. Debug issues as they come up. Testing can be done with the HDS lab environment or an outside lab if appropriate
Work with pre-sales /field engineers to replicate a customer environment for validation of our solution in their environment to help drive customer adoption
Work with industry partners (such as backup, anti-virus, virtualization software) to validate our system against their certification criteria.
Design, develop, and maintain a dynamic lab environment that can be rapidly configured to suite specific hardware or software solutions
Develop automated test scripts (ie: using Python, Perl, Php, Shell, etc)
Provide frequent status updates and reports to keep management up-to-date.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent knowledge in enterprise virtualization solutions using VMware vSphere, VMware Certified Engineer preferred.
Experience with other virtualization technologies such as Microsoft Hyper-V, RedHat KVM and/or Openstack. Red Hat Certified Engineer preferred.
Good hands on experience with HDS storage or at an expert level with IBM/HP/EMC/NetApp storage in block and file services.
Good storage knowledge in RAID, disk-subsystem, file system, snapshot, replication, and deduplication.
Coding experience (in python, perl, php, shell, etc) to automate test scripts is a plus.
Excellent knowledge in networking and storage protocols: NFS, CIFS, TCP/IP, Fibre Channel, Storage Area Network.
Excellent writing and documentation skills; very good verbal communications (including presentations and providing technical training).
Broad exposure and experience in integrating hardware solutions including servers (UNIX, LINUX, and Windows) with storage systems experience and/or certifications with various enterprise applications such as databases, backup, antivirus, email, clustering, VMware, Red Hat, SUSEetc.
Able to drive a solution from concept to completion by leveraging internal and external resources
High energy with the capability to multi-task in a dynamic and rapidly growing organization
10 to 25% travel required to partner labs, customer sites, training, trade shows, etc.
A team player and fast technology adoption is a must
Experience in performance tuning and analysis? Excellent problem solver and ability to work independently
Excellent internal and external customer skills. Possess the ability to work and communicate with the senior technical and executive levels including consultants, SE, DSM, PM, VP, etc.
